. This project involves the relocation and reconstruction of a historic, decommissioned train depot from the town of Granger, Texas to the Guadalupe Neighborhood in Austin where we make our home. A piece on the project recently aired on HGTV's ReZoned.
The depot was built perhaps as early as 1904 and served the Katy line from Austin to Granger. We believe its freight room was significantly shortened (from perhaps 35 feet to 6 feet in length) in 1961, and the building was taken out of service and moved away from the tracks circa 1986. It lay in Granger, unused since then, slowly succumbing to decay. We were very fortunate in being able to bid on it and purchase it in 2001.
Currently we are gradually completing final work on trim paint and miscellaneous projects.
